Information about Motion detection

On this page, you will find all the information about the new motion detection of the Loca 2 models.

1. How do I activate motion detection?

Follow the steps below to activate motion detection:

  1. Select the object for which you want to activate motion detection.
  2. Click on your current frequency (e.g., once per day).
  3. Scroll down and select: “Motion Detection” > Click Next.
  4. Choose whether you want to receive a 24/7 notification for movement or select your own time slot.
  5. In the final step, confirm your choice and click “Next.”
  6. Your motion detection will be processed and activated at the next location update.

2. Want to receive a push notification for movement?

Do you want to receive a push notification on your smartphone immediately upon detecting motion?

Select your object in the app and click on “Notifications”.
Turn on the “New location” notification.

Make sure notifications for the Loca app are enabled on your smartphone.

Tip: In the Loca app, you can configure whether you prefer to receive notifications via push message, email, or both.

3. How do I turn off motion detection?

You can easily turn off the motion detection by adjusting the frequency back to, for example, once per day.

4. What effect does motion detection have on the battery?

The Loca 2 typically lasts 3 years* with 1 position per day (1,095 positions). When using motion detection, battery life depends on your object’s movement frequency.

Example:
If your object moves twice a day, the battery will drain faster due to 5 notifications:
2 for movement + 2 after the object remains stationary for 15 minutes + 1 heartbeat

If the object moves less frequently, the battery will last longer and can even exceed 3 years!

*The above calculation is under optimal conditions; actual battery life depends on many factors such as GPS signal quality, 4G signal quality, temperature, and weather conditions.
